Our Mission

Our core values and guiding beliefs are to prepare and provide resources for Asian heritage scientists and engineers to succeed in the global business world. We believe in diversity, future of the STEM field, and contribution back to the community. There is no club or organization that is related to Asian heritage scientists and engineers yet at Rice University. Our club would be a pioneer in providing an information platform for Rice University’s Asian heritage scientists and engineers.
Our mission is to – Prepare Asian scientists and engineers for success in the global business world. Being the only organization on Rice campus that address the need of Asian scientists and engineers, SASE Rice Chapter would do the following to achieve its vision:
– Provide opportunities for SASE members to excel in their fields and make it possible for them to give back to their local communities
– Celebrate diversity in the workplace and on campus
– Promote and advocate STEM interest among students

Our Purpose

The purpose of this organization shall be:
1. to foster a general awareness throughout the Rice community and the overall Houston community on the plight of various species of animals by starting a conversation about animal welfare issues;
2. to engage the Rice, Houston, national, and international community on issues having to do with animal welfare;
3. to provide opportunities for Rice students to address problems of animal welfare;
4. to make partnerships with various organizations in the Houston animal welfare community to further expand opportunities for students to become involved and to further enlighten the Rice community on animal welfare issues;
5. to academically study the various animal species by working with the Rice aca-demic community in order to be able to better understand the animals, their envi-ronment, and threats to their welfare; and
6. to be a unifying voice on campus for those who are concerned about the welfare of animals in order to be a stronger advocate in the Houston community, the national community, and the international community for the better treatment and protection of animals.
